About us

Empowering changemakers

The Green Business Action team has been delivering fully funded support to London SMEs for more than seven years. We’re a small, dynamic, and friendly team that is dedicated to getting your business to the next stage, whether that’s progressing on your Net Zero goals or access to markets for your cleantech start-up. To date, we’ve supported over 600 businesses to through our different government-funded programmes, and will reach over 1,100 organisations by March 2025.

Drawing on our extensive networks through West London Business, our work on the Better Futures programme started by providing commercial opportunities for cleantech start-ups with funding from the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF).

In April 2021, we grew our offering to help everyday SMEs develop their Net Zero strategies through the Mayor of London’s Green New Deal Fund. Now we’re providing free holistic Net Zero support to hundreds of SMEs as part of the Levelling Up Agenda with the UK Shared Prosperity Fund. We’re also working closely with London boroughs, including Tower Hamlets and Hackney, to deliver bespoke energy programmes to their local businesses.

Our partners

We work with more than 90 partners across the country to help us deliver and promote the opportunities available to London’s businesses. We collaborate with London boroughs to deliver bespoke programmes for their local businesses, and have also developed partnerships with Business Improvement Districts, Chambers of Commerce, Enterprise Hubs, Universities, Accelerators, and more.

Some of our recent notable partnerships include…

We are proud to be partnering with Foundervine to deliver targeted sustainability advice to innovative food and drinks start-ups going through their Amplify Venture programme.

“Foundervine breaks down the barriers for all entrepreneurs, regardless of background, by providing access to training, networks and funding. We believe that by investing in founders, we invest in all of our futures and build an economy that is far more sustainable and equitable than today.”

Izzy Obeng, CEO, Foundervine

French Chamber of Great Britain

We have run a bespoke eight-part event series with the French Chamber of Great Britain, where their members learnt from industry experts on how to make their businesses more sustainable. The series was based on our Net Zero business leadership course and included speakers from Dassault Systèmes, Decathlon, Tarkett, and many more.

Tower Hamlets

The Tower Hamlets Energy Reduction Programme supports 50 local micro-businesses. Each participant receives a free on-site energy audit with an expert consultant who provides bespoke advice about how they can reduce energy use in their commercial premises. Participants are also given a £2,500 grant to upgrade their properties to be warmer, dryer, and more energy efficient, to help get them through the energy crisis.

We are a proud consortium member of the Hackney Impact programme which delivers holistic business advice, affordable workspaces, start-up advice and our climate resilience support. Our services in the consortium include providing 175 local businesses with free on-site energy audits, bespoke advice about reducing energy use in their commercial premises and the opportunity to apply for grants to upgrade their properties to build resilience against future energy price shocks and adverse weather events.
